## Case studies

- [Archibald ANZ People's Choice 2026](https://studiomass.com.au/archibald-anz-peoples-choice-2026.md): The ANZ People’s Choice Award is one of the most popular parts of the Archibald Prize, but getting thousands of visitors to cast a vote presents a unique service design challenge. For the 2026 exhibition, MASS worked with the Art Gallery of NSW to rethink the voting experience, with a focus on reducing congestion, improving accessibility and making it easier for more people to participate, without compromising the integrity of the vote.
- [LRX](https://studiomass.com.au/lrx.md): LRX restores and protects Australian landscapes, turning ecological knowledge and measurable environmental outcomes into long-term value. MASS partnered with LRX to develop a brand strategy and visual identity that positions the organisation at the intersection of nature, data and investment. The result is a distinctive brand with a clear voice and visual language inspired by the complexity, diversity and vitality of the landscapes it stewards.
- [Newcastle Art Gallery Identity](https://studiomass.com.au/newcastle-art-gallery-identity.md): As the grand opening of the Newcastle Gallery in February 2026 draws near, all eyes are on its striking new brand identity. Our partnership with the local council and gallery team began with a shared ambition to create something daring, memorable, and truly innovative. We crafted a layered, typographic visual language from the ground up, forging a bold identity that reflects both the gallery’s future and its deep-rooted connection to the city’s storied coal and steel heritage. By working closely with stakeholders, we tailored a flexible design system that offers clarity, guidance, and adaptability—ensuring the identity not only stands out but also resonates with the community’s rich history and vibrant spirit.
- [Newcastle Art Gallery Website](https://studiomass.com.au/newcastle-art-gallery-website.md): As we approached the new gallery launch, our focus shifted from finalizing the brand to designing a new website. The site needed to fulfill the practical needs of everyday users while also creating something special that expressed key conceptual themes from our brand work—particularly radical accessibility and references to the local industrial history.
- [CargoWise](https://studiomass.com.au/cargowise.md): CargoWise powers some of the world’s most complex logistics operations, bringing an extraordinary range of capabilities together in one deeply integrated platform. The challenge was making that complexity feel simple. We redesigned the public-facing website to help first-time visitors, returning users and existing customers understand what CargoWise does, find what they need and see how everything fits together.
- [The Beacon](https://studiomass.com.au/the-beacon.md): The Melbourne Recital Centre engaged MASS to create a new visual identity for The Beacon, a newly defined space at the top of its iconic building. Named for its elevated position overlooking Melbourne, The Beacon is an intimate venue for music, hospitality and special events. Our task was to develop a distinctive identity that could stand on its own while remaining clearly connected to the Melbourne Recital Centre brand.
- [Pinnacl](https://studiomass.com.au/pinnacl.md): Pinnacl is a contemporary construction company defined by precision, innovation and technical ambition. Their new digital experience brings this positioning to life through a refined brand system and advanced visual language, designed to communicate the scale and sophistication of their work in a highly confidential industry.
- [Built Environs](https://studiomass.com.au/built-environs.md): Built Environs delivers some of Australia’s most complex buildings and infrastructure, from major health and education facilities to civic, commercial and community projects that shape how people live, work and connect.
MASS was engaged to reimagine their digital presence, creating a platform that better reflects the scale, ambition and technical depth of the business. The challenge was to translate a highly complex organisation into a clear, compelling digital experience that reveals the thinking, capability and people behind the work.
- [L.A.C. Estate](https://studiomass.com.au/lacestate.md): Ut lobortis vulputate congue. Ut ut varius nunc, in volutpat magna. Cras sit amet cursus orci. Nam et urna ac sem tempus auctor id nec massa. Praesent in ante dui. Quisque tincidunt aliquet elit ac rhoncus. Donec pellentesque tellus vehicula lectus suscipit, quis pellentesque ex venenatis. Aliquam feugiat turpis convallis diam lacinia, quis luctus odio blandit.
- [NCM AI Summit](https://studiomass.com.au/ncm-ai-summit.md): To launch the National Communication Museum AI Summit, we created a dynamic visual identity system that explored artificial intelligence as something active, responsive and constantly evolving. Built using generative code, the identity produces flickering patterns and shifting forms that feel alive, as though the system is listening, processing and reacting in real time. Drawing from the museum’s existing brand language, the project transformed a conventional conference identity into an expressive visual framework that captured the complexity, uncertainty and excitement surrounding contemporary AI.
- [Portable](https://studiomass.com.au/portable.md): Portable is a digital consultancy focused on creating technology and services that deliver positive public impact. As the organisation evolved, its existing identity no longer reflected the clarity, ambition or momentum of the work it was doing. We partnered with Portable to develop a new visual identity system that could better articulate its role in driving meaningful change—transforming the brand from a static consultancy identity into a dynamic expression of progress, transformation and impact.
- [Village Cinemas 2026](https://studiomass.com.au/village-cinemas-2026.md): Booking a movie should feel as effortless and immersive as the experience waiting on the other side of the screen. For Village Cinemas, however, years of evolving technology and tightly coupled backend systems had created a digital experience that was increasingly difficult to adapt, optimise and scale. Partnering closely with Village’s digital and engineering teams, MASS helped reimagine both the website and the infrastructure thinking behind it, creating a more intuitive, flexible and future-ready booking experience built on a foundation of greater technical freedom.
- [BrandCanon](https://studiomass.com.au/brandcanon.md): BrandCanon was created to rethink one of the most overlooked tools in branding: the brand guidelines document. In a digital landscape where organisations operate across countless channels, teams and technologies, static PDFs and fragmented documentation no longer support the realities of modern brand management. BrandCanon transforms brand governance into a living, scalable system — one that brings strategy, design and implementation into a single, accessible platform. Designed for clarity, flexibility and everyday usability, it enables organisations to maintain consistency without sacrificing adaptability or speed.
- [Artificial Futures](https://studiomass.com.au/artificialfutures.md): This is Artificial Futures. Launched during NGV’s Melbourne Design Week 2024, and aligning with the event's theme of designing the ideal world, this online exhibit showcases AI-created images of people's hopes and dreams for the future. As you explore the website, you'll see emerging visual trends that offer glimpses into possible futures. The growing library of images aims to spark reflection about what's to come and invites us all to consider: How do we picture our ideal future?
- [Hotham](https://studiomass.com.au/hotham.md): In partnership with Hotham Alpine Resort, we redesigned the Mt Hotham website to create a more intuitive, engaging and seasonally adaptive digital experience — supporting visitors from initial inspiration through to arrival on the mountain.
- [NCM Merch](https://studiomass.com.au/ncmmerch.md): In our ongoing partnership with the National Communication Museum (NCM), we’ve been developing a collection of tactile moments — from merchandise celebrating the recent techno past to a summer campaign featuring a playful robot that breaks apart, alongside a series of more considered reports.
- [Greater Melbourne Foundation](https://studiomass.com.au/greater-melbourne-foundation.md): We went back in time to redesign the future of a 100+ year organisation. Partnering with the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund, we created a new visual identity and strategic communications framework, translating existing research into a clear pathway for a new name and renewed relevance for a younger audience.
- [NCM Signal to Noise Identity](https://studiomass.com.au/signal-to-noise.md): 'Signal to Noise' explores how artists transform disruption and interference into a powerful creative force, challenging traditional notions of communication. By embracing noise—from glitches in technology to natural hums—the exhibition reveals how disruption sparks innovation, pushes boundaries, and unlocks new aesthetic and philosophical perspectives. Featuring international works and cutting-edge technology, it shifts the narrative of noise from a barrier to a signal—an invitation to rethink connection, communication, and the limits of technological control.
- [NCM Signal to Noise exhibition](https://studiomass.com.au/signal-to-noise-exhibition.md): Signal to Noise examines how artists turn disruption and interference into a dynamic source of creativity, redefining conventional ideas of communication. By embracing noise—ranging from technological glitches to natural sounds—the exhibition demonstrates how disruption can drive innovation, expand boundaries, and open up new aesthetic and philosophical realms. Showcasing international artworks and advanced technology, it transforms noise from an obstacle into a meaningful signal—encouraging a new perspective on connection, dialogue, and the boundaries of technological mastery.
- [Melbourne Recital Centre](https://studiomass.com.au/mrc-identity.md): The playlist has become predictable, passive and all too familiar. The allure of discovering new music is exciting, but the unfamiliar can breed apprehension. The brave dare to venture beyond the boundaries of the familiar, flinging open the doors to musical artistry and new experiences. Inside the Melbourne Recital Centre, just beyond the honeycomb-shaped windows, music shifts, surprises and stirs. Every experience unfolds with deliberate momentum, carrying you closer to the fringes of the known and familiar. Step past your comfort zone and harness your inner pioneer with this open invitation to dare.
- [Aus Open App](https://studiomass.com.au/ausopenapp.md): Yes, that Australian Open. The first Grand Slam of the year. Every January, Melbourne becomes the epicentre of tennis for two weeks, drawing nearly a million visitors court-side and countless more fans glued to screens worldwide . The AO app is designed for everyone — from the casual spectator who just wants to catch the highlights to the stats-obsessed fan tracking every serve. For the past six years, through countless sprints and iterations, our work on the AO app has been incremental — one sprint at a time, one feature at a time. The numbers tell a compelling story: hundreds of thousands of users and growing, millions of streaming minutes, and a 4.7-star rating that reflects the impact we’re making together.
- [Netwealth platform](https://studiomass.com.au/netwealth-platform.md): Who could have predicted that our initial meeting with Netwealth would lead to a partnership spanning so many years? What began as a modest project has grown into years of meaningful collaboration — encompassing their website, native app, multiple service design sprints, marketing campaigns, video animations, and even an innovation program teaching Swinburne students about finance and design thinking.
The pinnacle, and the work we are most proud of, is our partnership with Netwealth to design and deliver their award-winning financial platform, recognised as Australia's best overall platform by Investment Trends in 2023 and securing Gold Advised Product of the Year consistently from 2018 to 2022, and again in 2024
- [NCM website and launch](https://studiomass.com.au/ncm-website-and-launch.md): When we were invited to design an interim website for the National Communication Museum (NCM), we knew we were stepping into a project that was anything but ordinary. With NCM preparing to launch, we had the opportunity to create a digital space that offered a preview of the museum's interactive exhibitions, building excitement for an experience that didn’t yet exist.
- [MRC 2025 programme](https://studiomass.com.au/mrc-2025programme.md): For a dedicated community of music lovers, the Melbourne Recital Centre annual programme reveal is a highlight of the calendar. This year the programme held even more significance — it marked the debut of MRC's refreshed visual identity.
The unveiling of the 2025 programme, a forty-five-page preview of upcoming performances, was a bold statement, a vibrant declaration of MRC’s exciting new direction. It was an invitation to see MRC in a new way, showcasing an identity as daring and dynamic as the performances that amplify in the auditorium.
- [NCM Instruments of Surveillance](https://studiomass.com.au/ncm-instruments-of-surveillance.md): Cameras, sensors, and AI-driven systems work together to capture a constant stream of data from the urban environment. Humans adjust settings, analyse patterns, and make decisions based on the insights these machines provide. NCM’s upcoming featured exhibit, ‘Instruments of Surveillance,’ examines the intricate collaboration between human judgment and machine intelligence.
- [Counterparts](https://studiomass.com.au/counterparts.md): Counterparts is an exhibition and three-part conversation series dissecting the creative processes of designers who move through formats, mediums, and disciplines. It unearths how one practice informs and enables another, creating an expansive, non-singular body of work. The design goal was to express this fluidity and interplay visually.
- [Artdrunk](https://studiomass.com.au/artdrunk.md): We believe art should be for everyone—accessible and inviting, free from intimidation, a sentiment shared by ArtDrunk, a media brand with a mission to ‘demystify contemporary art through content and experiences’.
- [Ailo](https://studiomass.com.au/ailo.md): Property management has long been a delicate balancing act, with managers, tenants, and landlords trying to interact more smoothly through communication threads that intertwine like tangled wires. Ailo’s vision was to streamline these intricate relationships, untangling the cables and paving the way for better communication.
- [MOST](https://studiomass.com.au/most.md): We partnered with Orygen Digital to design a new brand for MOST, a digital platform that provides continuous, integrated face-to-face and digital care to people aged 12 - 25. Through an extensive participatory design process, we learned that the audience is wonderfully diverse and creative. We needed to design a brand that felt authentic and true, inclusive and accessible. We settled on the brand narrative ‘Supporting Individuals, Together’ and created a vibrant identity that reflects the diversity of the community it represents.
- [EquiemOne](https://studiomass.com.au/equiemone.md): EquiemOne is a property management platform designed for Portfolio Managers, Property Managers, Workplace Managers, and Employees. We worked with Equiem on the new vision, implementing the new look and feel piece by piece, feature by feature, while at the same time, working on a robust design system along the way.
- [BuildPass](https://studiomass.com.au/buildpass.md): As BuildPass, a software platform for the construction industry, introduces itself to a global audience, it does so with a visual language that’s as dynamic and forward-thinking as the business it empowers. Their refreshed identity is a launchpad to global ambitions, designed to be scalable, modular, and future-proof, a strategic tool that’s ready to grow and adapt alongside the business as it charts its course for growth.
- [LivePreso](https://studiomass.com.au/livepreso.md): Visual identity and positioning for a software platform that allows businesses to redefine their customer engagement process and ‘Make change’. The copy is decidedly action-orientated, the logomark constantly changing and the pattern a nod to the product's data-driven underpinnings.
- [Moonshots](https://studiomass.com.au/moonshots.md): Visual identity and collateral that uses colour and typography to help brand a year-long series of inspirational events. Each month appears slightly different, while together they offer a consistent and complementary sequence.
- [Push Collective](https://studiomass.com.au/push-collective.md): A new website for fellow design friends PUSH Collective. We used animation, interaction and sound to create something unique. The strong vertical swipes, hovers and animations provide a signature interaction that plays on the ‘push’ namesake. Content layouts are left open and customisable by the client.
- [EstimateOne](https://studiomass.com.au/estimate-one.md): Partnering with founders, we designed a new vision for the platform. Our field research took us in to the customer's workplace and allowed us to co-design new features and test new ideas. We worked with the E1 team to make using the platform easier and upgrading more compelling.
- [Village Cinemas](https://studiomass.com.au/villagecinemas.md): A partnership that started with the redesign of the website. A focus on iterative prototyping and ongoing user testing helped us significantly improve the ticket purchase sequence. A live ticket feature that helps movie-goers time their trip to the candy bar. And ultimately, a new refined direction for the brand's digital expression.
- [Netwealth](https://studiomass.com.au/netwealth.md): An ongoing collaboration that has lasted years and led us to design Netwealth’s website, platform and mobile app. We’ve run sprints, facilitated testing, developed the design system and continue to work with them to improve the Advisor and client experience.
- [Devicie](https://studiomass.com.au/devicie.md): New identity for end-user device management company Devicie. The visual language uses dots that swarm, animate and coordinate as a visual metaphor for the hundreds of devices managed simultaneously by the end user. We created an image generator so the client can easily create assets and chose a typographic language developed with computational absolutes.
- [UPowr](https://studiomass.com.au/upowr.md): UPowr provides renewable energy products and services for homeowners and enterprise businesses. We partnered with them to create a new visual identity. We researched the market and discovered that potential customers didn't need to be convinced why they should switch to learn energy and chose to use ‘straightforwardness’, as our north star. From there we designed a visual language that includes primary colours, simple icons, basic compositions and a simple logomark system. Saskia Wilson's photography brings warmth and honesty to the brand which is combined with direct and frank copywriting to help set this energy brand apart from it's competitors.
- [Make it Break it](https://studiomass.com.au/make-it-break-it.md): A partnership with Swinburne and Netwealth to teach students about design thinking. Based on the Google Ventures Design Sprint methodology, we spend a week together, helping students design, sketch, decide, prototype and test. The program aims to arm the next wave of designers with more empathy and collaboration skills.
- [NCM Interim website](https://studiomass.com.au/ncmsoundtoy.md): The National Communication Museum (NCM) is a contemporary museum that showcases the evolution of communication technologies in Australia. Our temporary website includes an interactive feature that brings a new level of creativity to the project. The dynamically generative sound toy brings an immersive aspect to the site and provides visitors with a unique online experience.
- [ArtCal](https://studiomass.com.au/artcal.md): We created a place for medium-sized galleries to post their exhibitions and for users to find the best local artists. We want to see people return to galleries after COVID lockdowns. We want them to return so that they might buy art and support local artists. We live with art in our own homes and it’s a privilege. We hope more Australians get to live with art too.
- [Momentum Energy](https://studiomass.com.au/momentum-energy.md): We started with research, prototyping and testing. We updated the existing brand language and designed a new website. We used illustration, animation and interaction to create something with more personality and a purchase sequence. We continue to partner with Momentum to improve the member experience.
- [Pattr](https://studiomass.com.au/pattr.md): A line, the hint of a speech bubble and some straight-talking language set in a variety of different typefaces. Rebranding this conversational AI platform meant focusing on visualising conversations and not the techno-mumbo jumbo.
- [Heide](https://studiomass.com.au/heide.md): We partnered with HEIDE Museum of Modern Art to create a new website that is easy to use and a celebration of the museum's art, architecture and landscape. We worked with the new brand (by Garry Emery and Jane Mooney) and developed a flexible design system for exhibition pages, a typographic approach that encouraged reading, and a stripped-back interface that made navigating the website effortless. Special credits go to BONE for the build and SIRAP for the videography.
- [vbrand](https://studiomass.com.au/vbrand.md): A visual identity and website redesign for an anonymous technology company. Copy driven, intentionally empowering, bold and graphic. Designed to appeal to an audience of growing small to medium sized retail businesses. Alas our work went on hold due to an acquisition but remains here as a record.
