We helped Momentum Energy transform its digital experience into a vibrant and engaging platform. From a homepage that defies industry standards to user interaction that streamlines the sales funnel, bold choices helped redefine what an energy provider's online experience can be.
We pared it back to a focus on simplicity, intuitiveness, and friendliness, immediately standing out in a sector almost exclusively characterised by its uninspiring digital interfaces.
The homepage deviates from the norm with a permanently pinned navigation menu on the right-hand side, while the left side of the page scrolls. This approach, combined with a dynamic background colour fade that subtly mimics the act of switching lights on and off, sets a distinctive tone from the outset.
To bring out the brand's personality, we created 'wavelings,' a fresh illustration style that builds on their existing 'energy wave' graphic. In the push for efficiency, the human touch often gets lost, leaving behind bland corporate experiences. By swapping out stock photos for unique illustrations, we injected a much-needed dose of personality back into the site.
The sales funnel underwent a significant overhaul to simplify the user journey. By consolidating the sign-up form into a single page and incorporating a progress tracker, we streamlined the process, leading to an increase in dual fuel sales from 46% to 62%. The site’s performance was optimised across all devices, ensuring a seamless experience whether accessed via mobile or desktop.
We initiated discovery sprints to test assumptions and worked closely with Momentum’s marketing, content, product, and IT teams, allowing us to adapt the design based on real-time feedback and ensuring that every aspect was user-focused.
