Having barely completed the rebranding of the Melbourne Recital Centre, we were given the perfect excuse to push the visual design even further with the 2025 programme.
Beyond its practical purpose of highlighting the diverse performances for the coming year, it was an opportunity to explore the limits of the visual identity and the materiality of print as a tool for telling the story of the new look to an unsuspecting audience.
The cover makes a bold first impression with a hexagonal cut-out, a nod to the iconic facade of the building, offering a glimpse of the contents while harmoniously sharing the space with the logo. The carefully selected colour palette and premium paper stock convey the quality, elegance and sophistication of MRC.
As you turn through the pages, the sheer diversity of the programme becomes clear. The Melbourne Recital Centre is so much more than classical music; it’s a vibrant and ever-evolving hub of vocal performances, contemporary and cross-genre events, special series, and more still.
The launch event, highlighted by inspiring speeches from MRC CEO Sandra Willis and Director of Programming Marshall McGuire, alongside captivating live performances by local cellists, was a celebration of music, culture, community, and MRC’s fearless reinvention.
